Hermès Shiny Braise Porosus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware, 2010, Excellent Condition
This bag is done in Shiny Braise Porosus Crocodile with two rolled handles, a flap and turnlock closure, and Palladium hardware. Generally speaking, the largest Birkin Hermès produces is the 40cm, and above that the design changes to the classic HAC style Birkin, so it is quite unusual to find a traditionally proportioned Birkin in this gargantuan 50cm size, not to mention the rarity and desirability of the shiny Braise Porosus Crocodile skins used. It takes about 5 years for a crocodile to grow large enough for a 35cm Birkin, and 10 years to grow enough for a 40cm, so you can only imagine how rare it is to find skins of this quality and size. The scales on this bag showcase all three S's: Small, Square, and Symmetrical to a very high degree, which would be expected of such a special and unusual exotic bag from Hermès. Braise, meaning 'Ember' in French gives off the hot red glow of a dying fire in the night, and is known as Hermès' brightest red shade for exotics. This bag is lined with matching Braise Chevre leather with one zip pocket and one slip pocket. It includes the oversized lock, two keys, and a matching clochette.
